Zero, less talk, let's look at the content:#
One, let's talk about why Arrow 1000 is based on Obsidian#
Obsidian brings many key advantages to Arrow 1000, making it your ideal inspiration library.
1. Powerful offline saving feature#
The files in the video above are all that Arrow 1000 consists of, made up of md format files and the attachments you save.
For many designers, inspiration often emerges unexpectedly, while the internet tends to become disconnected. For example, when Notion decided to kick Russian users off the Notion servers they painstakingly built, when Figma suggested DJI should stop using it, and when Behance restricted email accounts in China. At this point, I increasingly feel that local storage is imperative, and the offline saving feature of Arrow 1000 based on Obsidian becomes particularly important. No matter where you are, you can access your inspiration library anytime, unrestricted by the internet. This means designers can review previously collected high-quality design works at any time and place, draw inspiration, and ensure a continuous output of creativity.
2. Attachment saving without size or type limits#
Notion has also organized it, but it always feels a bit uncomfortable.
During the design process, you need to collect various types of materials, including images, documents, videos, etc. Some inspiration sites on Notion may charge for attachment saving (over 5MB requires a membership, sob), which undoubtedly increases costs for designers. Arrow 1000 allows designers to save various attachments for free (and performs excellently), providing great convenience for designers.
3. Super convenient canvas feature#
Obsidian's canvas feature brings us a brand new inspiration viewing experience. Similarly, local inspiration saving software like Eagle cannot achieve localized whiteboard viewing. When designing complex projects, designers often need to reference multiple sources of inspiration simultaneously. Traditional inspiration sites may not meet this multidimensional viewing need. Arrow 1000, with its canvas feature, acts like a canvas filled with quirky and creative ideas, allowing you to freely arrange and combine different inspiration resources. For example, when working on a web design project, you can organize and compare excellent interface design cases, user experience design cases, and related color schemes directly on the canvas, quickly finding connections for inspiration and improving design efficiency.
4. Visual Tag + Bi-directional link knowledge map#
Obsidian's bi-directional links combine my "manual tagging" of all inspirations in Arrow 1000, allowing you to visually see all your inspirations and even discover subtle connections between two inspiration sites through tags. For example, if I am doing brand design, I can click on the small ball of the tag "#Brand," which will automatically search for all notes containing the "#Brand" tag in the search bar, making it easy for me to reference these notes directly.
Two, Arrow 1000's rich categories meet different design needs#
Arrow 1000's categories cover multiple design fields, providing designers with a wide range of inspiration sources.
1. Graphic Design Field#
Graphic design includes various aspects such as posters, logos, packaging, and book design. Websites like logosystem, fontsinuse, themovingposter, and Visual Journal provide rich sources of inspiration for graphic designers. For example, when designing posters, designers can draw design inspiration for dynamic posters from themovingposter, learning how to use novel visual effects and animation elements to attract the audience's attention. In logo design, excellent logo examples on logosystem can inspire creativity and help designers create unique and recognizable logos.
2. Web and APP Design Field#
This field encompasses interface design, user experience design, and more. Websites like A-fresh, Awwwards, Browsing Mode, Brutalist Websites, and Dark Design showcase cutting-edge digital design concepts. For web and APP designers, excellent cases on Awwwards can help them understand the latest trends in interface design and user experience design methods. When designing mobile app interfaces, designers can refer to the clean design style on Browsing Mode to enhance user convenience.
3. One Person Company Category#
Websites like Endless Design, Baked.design, 14islands, Portfolio Project, taragraphy, Design Joy, carlhauser.com, Syncrely, SigmaSoftware, and Michael Designs showcase various exciting design studios, personal workstations, and portfolios. For independent designers or small design teams, these websites can provide inspiration for personal brand building. For example, when creating a personal portfolio, designers can draw from excellent examples on Portfolio Project to showcase their design style and professional capabilities.
4. Automotive Design Field#
As I am a product designer related to HMI UI, my collections often include this content. Websites like TheTurnSignal and Arrival provide automotive designers with design inspiration for cars, motorcycles, yachts, and more. In automotive design projects, you can gather the latest trends in automotive exterior design and innovative concepts for automotive interior design from TheTurnSignal. These websites can also provide industrial design inspiration for designers in other fields, broadening your design thinking for the next project.
Summary#
Arrow 1000, based on Obsidian, offers advantages such as complete offline saving, free saving of various large attachments, and powerful canvas features, hoping to become a treasure trove of inspiration for designers, or simply provide you with another way to organize inspiration or become a prototype of your inspiration library. In the vast ocean of design, holding Arrow 1000 can lead you on a journey filled with creativity and surprises.
Currently, Arrow 1000 is still growing and is now in beta testing. If you want to use the inspiration collection resource library that I usually use, please comment: I want it, and I will send you the download package.
